WASHINGTON, DC -- Today, the Environmental Protection Agency announced a comprehensive approach to addressing the long-standing public health challenges posed by lead in drinking water by proposing new standards to tackle lead in drinking water.
The following is a statement from Scott Faber, EWG’s senior vice president for government affairs:
Once again, President Biden’s EPA is putting our families first and honoring his commitments to the American people. In particular, the president is making good on his commitment, made while he was running for president, to address the threats posed by lead service lines.
We’re confident he will also make good on his commitment to finalize a drinking water standard for the toxic "forever chemicals" known as PFAS.
Congress has provided water utilities unprecedented funding to address both of these threats.
