Dr Peter Heyworth MBBS, FRCOphth, FRANZCO
is a Consultant Ophthalmologist and Oculoplastic surgeon. (Eye Doctor)
I qualified MB, BS from Charing Cross and Westminster Medical School, London in 1987. After a period of general practice, training in ophthalmology began in 1990. I trained at St George’s Hospital, London, and then at the renowned Moorfields Eye Hospital, London, undergoing general training in all aspects of eye disease followed by sub-specialty training in oculoplastic surgery. A further year was spent in sub-specialty oculoplastic training at the Royal Perth Hospital in 1997.
I am a fellow of the Royal College of Ophthalmologists in the UK and a fellow of the Royal Australian and New Zealand College of Ophthalmologists. I am a member of ANSOPRS, the Australian and New Zealand Society of Plastic and Reconstructive Surgeons, and have published on a wide range of topics in peer review journals. I enjoy teaching both ophthalmologists and optometrists in-training as well as GP’s and nursing staff. I have been a consultant in Bunbury for twelve years, in both private and public practice.
I practice general ophthalmology as well as having a sub-specialty interest in oculo-facial plastic surgery. I manage eyelid tumours and subsequent eyelid reconstruction, disorders of the upper and lower eyelids including ptosis (droopy eyelids), ectropion (lids that turn out), entropion (lids that turn in), and disorders of the lacrimal drainage system (watery eyes). I also manage cosmetic aesthetic disorders of the upper face, including blepharoplasty surgery and brow surgery. I am trained in the use of injectable anti-wrinkling agents for the management of both functional and cosmetic disorders.
